The import files that you need to use will come directly from within Business Central.
When it will be time to import into your live environment, it is important that you take the time to review this step in detail, as it will allow you to start on the right track.
The first thing that you will need to decide on is what information you need in your system:
- Customers
- Vendors
- Items
If you don’t need any of the following, that’s fine. Just make sure you check the appropriate box.
When you're doing your final data load, have a look around the advanced features to see if you require any of these other fields that may not be mandatory, but could be important for your organization.
Import Tip
Take the time to clean up your data before starting in a new system. If you have any duplicates with slightly different spellings, it could be a good time to merge them so that you can start fresh in your new system.
This could take multiple days (as we know you still have your day job to do!), but don’t underestimate the time and importance of having clean data when you start your new system.
There you have it! You are one step closer to having your own live system.
